Within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the Chairman of the State Council, Yahya bin al- Manzari, his deputy, the President of the Consultative Council, Sheikh Khalid al-Maawali, and with the rector of Sultan Qaboos University.
The meetings saw a thorough exchange of views on issues of bilateral relations, including in the field of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, expanding trade and economic relations and international tourism.
The parties noted that tourism is a promising area of bilateral cooperation, which will be facilitated by a relaxed visa regime and the opening of a direct flight between the cities of Almaty and Muscat (the capital of Oman), thus deploying the tourism opportunities of the two countries, as well as also triggering the development of business activity.
The Sultanate of Oman was among the first Arab states to establish close political and economic cooperation with Kazakhstan. Today, Oman continues its effective presence in Kazakhstan, especially in the energy sector. The parties are developing joint projects in the oil and gas industry. The strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations will further expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
